Those with empty stomachs, beware the new trailer that just landed. “Haute Cuisine,” from the Weinstein Company, centers on Provence chef Daniele Delpeuch (Catherine Frot), who worked as French president Francois Mitterand’s country cook, and withstood all the culinary challenges that went along with it. The film hits theaters August 16. Watch below.
Harvey Weinstein discussed the film at his Sundance Q&A back in January. Is it a possible awards contender? As the trailer reminds us, it’s from the same studio that brought us last year’s French Oscar submission, “The Intouchables,” which did not make the final five. But the recent Palme d’Or win of French director Abdellatif Kechiche’s “Blue Is the Warmest Color” may be giving other films from the country a run for their awards money. Unless the French establishment is afraid the Academy won’t go for the lesbian romance’s racy content, that is. After all, this is the group that voted for “Crash” over “Brokeback Mountain.”
