Watch: First 2 Clips From Steamy 3-Hour Cannes Entry 'Blue Is The Warmest Color' Starring Lea Seydoux

If you have a thing for Lea Seydoux, this was a good year to be at the Cannes Film Festival. The French actress spends most of “Grand Central” (read our review here) either naked or strutting around noticeably bra-less in a jean shorts and a one piece body suit. And then there’s “Blue Is The Warmest Color,” an epic three hour lesbian love story with love scenes that are already creating chatter, with Jeffrey Wells noting that one sequence in particular earned applause during the movie. Damn.

Directed by Abdellatif Kechiche — the filmmaker behind the awesome, under-seen foreign film, “The Secret of The Grain” which won several key Cesar Awards in 2008 and also took the Jury Prize in Venice the year before — and based on the graphic novel by Julie Maroh, the picture tracks the up and down of a fledgling, same-sex relationship. Here’s the official synopsis:

At 15, Adele doesn’t question it: a girl goes out with boys. Her life is turned upside down the night she meets Emma, a young woman with blue hair, who will allow her to discover desire, to assert herself as a woman and as an adult. In front of others, Adele grows, seeks herself, loses herself, finds herself…

Sundance Selects has nabbed U.S. distribution, but it has been scooped up for Canada by Mongrel Media. Watch the clips below, and sorry dudes, they are entirely safe for work.

Nothing wrong with a little girl on girl. What was the plot of this movie?

Wow. Just wow.

Homosexuality was officially nixed as a "mental disorder" years ago. Long, long after your brain stopped evolving, I suspect, as you seem to have the mental sophistication of plankton.
Why no natural lubrication in ones bottom then ? Homosexuality is just being kinky with good PR

sorry dudes, entirely safe for work??? f-u

Bonjour Madamselle

Damn… I wanted to see some carpet munching…

I have only seen Lea Seyodux in her small roles like Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, Midnight in Paris and Inglourious Basterds. So I look forward to seeing what she can do in Blue is the Warmest Color and Grand Central.

An attempt to glamorize a mental disorder. If your mind is causing a sexual attraction 180 degrees from your physical makeup, what else can it be?

This film is about gay women. So, why aren't you writing "woo hoo, gay ladies, this film is for you?" this is a gay movie.

Why do you have to belittle ("sorry dudes") a movie about gay life. Its incredibly hard and confusing and scaring when you realize you are gay. But the Playlist is obviously just writing for straight "dudes" who want to wack off. Shame.

Is it just my phone or does the first one not work?

Yes, there IS U.S. distribution for "Blue is…" Sundance Selects picked it up a day or two ago.
