Break Media Offers Eight Filmmakers $20,000 to Produce Action and Sci-Fi Shorts

Digital shorts have quickly become the way to discover new creative voices, with more companies joining the contest bandwagon every day searching for the next group of fresh/young/inexpensive filmmaking talent.

The latest opportunity comes from Break Media, the male-focused digital media company behind sites like Break, Chickipedia and Screen Junkies, who’ve partnered with New Regency Productions (Fight Club, JFK, Mr. and Mrs. Smith) to present Prototype, a competition that offers eight aspiring filmmakers the chance to create their own original action, sci-fi, or effects-driven short films for $20,000 each. One of the eight finalists will win a production deal with New Regency to develop their short into a feature.

Filmmakers can enter online by submitting a short script, feature film treatment, and a directing sample.

Submissions are open NOW through August 31, 2013.
