Chicken & Egg Pictures Is Looking For More Talented & Amazing Women Filmmakers (Grants)

Several films we’ve covered on this site over the years were recipients of grants from Chicken & Egg Pictures – Buddha of Africa; The Supreme Price; The New BlackCall Me Kuchu and several others.

I should also note that Nekisa Cooper, producer of Pariah, was awarded the the first Creative Producer grant from Chicken and Egg Pictures in 2011 at the Sundance Film Festival – a $10,000 award!

So you’re strongly encouraged to apply, assuming you qualify.

Details from the email announcement, below:

It’s that exciting time of year again! Chicken & Egg Pictures is looking for more talented and amazing women filmmakers. We are writing to you on behalf of our 2013 summer open call. Our deadline for entries is rapidly approaching! Early submission is July 1st, 2013 at midnight PST, with a fee of $20.

The final deadline for submission is at midnight PST on July 15th, 2013, with a fee of $35.

Chicken & Egg Pictures is dedicated to supporting women nonfiction filmmakers whose diverse voices and dynamic storytelling have the power to catalyze change, at home and around the globe. Since our founding in 2005, we have put $2.8 million dollars directly into the hands of 162 filmmakers, and they have done exactly that.

We match strategically timed financial support with rigorous, respectful and dynamic mentorship, creative collaboration and community-building to nurture women filmmakers whose diverse voices represent a range of lived experience and realities that have the power to change the world as we know it.

We were hoping you could help us spread the word about this amazing opportunity to any women filmmakers, social justice activists, or creative women in your community.

Review all guidelines and FAQs before applying. Check out the application at: http://www.chickeneggpics.org/loi

Good luck! Maybe we’ll be talking about your project later this year, or next.
