Chris Tucker Will Play One-Half Of A Married Couple In Comedy ‘Second Honeymoon’

Chris Tucker Will Play One-Half Of A Married Couple In Comedy 'Second Honeymoon'

On the heels of his supporting role in the TWC hit, Silver Linings Playbook, Chris Tucker has signed up to star in the comedy Second Honeymoon.

To be directed by Phil Joanou (Gridiron Gang), the film’s synopsis, courtesy of The Wrap, reads:

Story follows a married couple who return to Antigua on their second honeymoon in an effort to spice things up. However, the legacy they left ten years ago comes back to haunt both of them, and before they know it, the trip is less about trying to reconnect with their younger, wilder selves and more about trying to get off the island alive.

Chris will star as one-half of the couple – his first leading role since sharing the screen with Jackie Chan in the Rush Hour series.

Relativity Media will finance, produce and distribute the film, which Chris Tucker will executive produce.

As for what’s on Tucker’s upcoming slate, there’ve been rumors of a Rush Hour 4 movie, as well as another buddy-action-comedy with Jackie Chan, tentatively titled Skip Tracer.

Tucker is also set to host the 2013 BET Awards, which takes place on June 30.

Any guesses on what actress (assuming the other half of the couple is a woman) will play Tucker’s wife in Second Honeymoon?

What about Kim Wayans?

It has to be someone who can handle the intensity of Chris's rapid-fire humor. I say Regina Hall.

@Jihudi It did cross my mind at first that perhaps they would cast a non Black or a white actress as the love interest but I don't think they would go that route post Cheerios-gate. But who knows anything can happen.

I guess we're all assuming the love interest to be Black, right?

It would be nice for them to cast an unknown Black actress but Keri Washington is the it girl at the moment.

Congrats Chris!

This sounds more like a drama or a dramedy as opposed to a comedy. Dramedy can be tricky, but I wish him the best.

As for his love interest, how about Bresha Webb, Nikki Micheaux, Gabrielle Union, Kali Hawk, Nadine Ellis, or Rutina Wesley, YaYa Decosta Alafia, Erica Hubbard or Nicole Beharie. I'm available to play his wife also. :)

I think Chris + Bresha would be a gut bursting funny combination as long as they don't make Bresha play a hood stereotype.
