Donald Glover Joins Cast Of 'Flatliners'-Like Thriller 'Reawakening' From Producer Of 'The Purge'

Actor, rapper, writer, comedian Donald Glover has joined the cast of Lionsgate’s upcoming horror thriller Reawakening.

Glover joins Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde and Evan Peters in the project to be directed by David Gelb, which follows a team of research students who discover the secret to bringing people back from the dead; naturally, things don’t quite work out exactly as planned, with consequences abound.

It sounds somewhat like Flatliners. Remember that flick from 1990, with Julia RobertsKiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Kimberly Scott and others?

Glover has signed up to play a member of the research team, which also includes the aforementioned Duplass, Wilde and Peters.

The film is being produced by Blumhouse Productions, the same production house behind last weekend’s surprise box office smash, the low-budget home invasion thriller, The Purge, which opened to $36 million.

We last saw the Community co-star (Glover) in Lena Dunham’s hit HBO series, Girls. Up next for him is the feature comedy The To Do List.

Not my type of movie, but I'm here for Donald Glover and Evan Peters.

Flatliners sucked as a movie, on the top, in the middle, and on the bottom.. Why oh why would ANYONE want to revisit that crappy story and bad, bad film?

Very cool. I like Donald Glover as an actor and as a musician. It'd be good to see him in more roles. It does sound very close to Flatliners they may as well call it a remake but not many movie premises are wholly original these days. It'd also be good to see a different side to Glover's talent as well instead of the slapstick or comedic role.
