He's Baaaack! First Trailer For Season 3 Of Idris Elba's 'Luther' Arrives!

John Luther (played by Idris Elba) returns to BBC One in July (for our UK readers), and BBC America (for our USA readers) on September 3, at 10pm/9c, as part of its Dramaville hour, airing on 4 successive nights – September 3, 4, 5 & 6.

Here’s an official synopsis:

Idris Elba  returns in the title role of the acclaimed mini-series which won him a 2012 Golden Globe for “Best Actor” in this four-night television event in September – with two conflicting crimes to investigate and a ruthless ex-cop determined to bring him down. Luther’s life is his job, that is until love crosses his path and offers him a chance of happiness. Sienna Guillory (“Resident Evil,” “Love Actually”) joins the cast as Mary, a woman who works in a vintage clothing shop and meets Luther in a chance encounter. But is Mary ready to accept Luther’s past? And can Luther leave it behind? A self-destructive near-genius, John Luther might just be as dangerous as the depraved criminals he hunts. Luther shines a light into the hearts and minds of psychopaths and killers … and the shadowy spaces of his own soul.

The series is created by Neil Cross and executive produced by Phillippa Giles.

The explosive first trailer has arrived and it’s embedded below. Is that Alice I see? She might be back after all.

Why are black male readers on this site so excited to see Alice? SMDH.

GREAT to see Alice, but I'm sure it's only going to be one or two scenes and I'm fine with that. I don't want to over saturate the character and would like to save her for a Luther movie or that possible spin-off that has been bandied about.

For the record I'D RATHER see her in a Luther movie than her own spinoff, but the creator of Luther knows what he's doing so whatever direction he chooses…

At this point, I want to see a Luther movie, like in the theaters! I'd be hype to see that! Only thing about this is arghhhh we have to wait till September but nonetheless I'm excited!

Yes! Luther is back in September. If anyone has not watched this show and seen the phenomenal (trust me, I do not use this word lightly) Idris Elba, you need to get Netflix, Hulu+ Amazon Instant, get to your local library see if they have it in there DVD Section, watch episodes on YouTube, watch BBCAmerica, fly the Jolly Roger ( those in the know, winkwink), are missing some excellent television and breathtaking performances. I know I probably sound as if I'm overselling "Luther" but I am not.

Yaas! It's kinda sad in a way that this is the one show with a black lead that a lot of us are looking forward to the most this year. I mean, really. Isn't that kind of sad. It's like our one single show because there's not much else that can match it. And even more sad is that this is a British show. It's not even made by Hollywood. Will a TV network in the USA ever make a TV series like this? Obviously there is an audience for it. I don't know how large it is but Luther posts on this site always seem to get a lot of social networking activity and comments. And if I remember correctly Luther posts made the top 10 S&A posts list last year. I know S&A isn't all of America but doesn't that say something, that there's must be a sizable audience for the series in the USA? Plus Luther has crossed over. It's not just black folks watching.
