Watch: First Trailer For Bong Joon-ho's Post-Apocalyptic 'Snowpiercer' Starring Chris Evans & Tilda Swinton

Picked up by The Weinstein Company last fall, rumored for Cannes and generally spending the last few months teasing us with a handful of stills repurposed into posters as well, now comes the first real look at Bong Joon-ho‘s upcoming, star-studded “Snowpiercer.” Was it worth the wait?

The first trailer for the movie has arrived and there is no doubt it’s ambitious. The 99% vs. 1% story takes place on a train in a post-apocalyptic and wintery future, where a train is divided into a class system. But of course, that doesn’t sit well wit those below and revolt brews. There are a lot of axes in here, and shots of crowds of people crashing into other and running around, but we have to say the movie looks more action heavy and perhaps a bit less atmospheric that we might have been hoping. But then again, it’s hard to tell if that’s just the way the trailer has been cut. Nonetheless, with this cast? We’ll be there.

Starring Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Song Kang-ho, Alison Pill, Octavia Spencer and Ewen Bremner, the film opens in South Korea on August 1st but no stateside date yet. Watch below.

Another Bong Fan

I'm a little underwhelmed by this trailer since it's so action-y, but I'm hoping Bong will deliver as he so far has.

Did not understand a single thing Tilda Swinton said but I'm loving it!

I'm going to see this in a Korean theatre in August. However, I don't speak Korean. It looks like one actor at least (Song Kang-ho?) will have lines in Korean, that I won't understand. Ah well, sacrifices.

Now we know why this wasn't accepted at Cannes…

With Bong Joon-ho, it is never as simple as it looks…

Didn't really care much for the trailer, but the movie looks good.

Looks dope.
