Watch: Lovely Trailer For SXSW Grand Jury Prize & Audience Award Winning 'Short Term 12' Starring Brie Larson

Here’s yet another reminder that this summer, there are more things beyond the supersized jumbo popcorn, slushy and nachos offerings at the multiplex. Looking for something with a bit nuance, a little bit of heart, with some real characters and story? Look no further than “Short Term 12,” the tender dramedy starring Brie Larson. And yes, we are quoted within so take it as extra stamp of approval for this picture.

Taking the SXSW Grand Jury and Audience Award prizes this year, the second feature from writer/director Destin Daniel Cretton, co-stars Rami Malek (“The Master“) and John Gallagher Jr. (“The Newsroom“) and follows the lives of workers at an adolescent foster care facility. To say it won us over is an understatement, as our A grade review called it “a roller coaster of every emotion, managing to be both heartwarming and heartrending.” This lovely trailer gets that vibe across nicely, taking us right into the world where this film is set, and the challenges that face these characters.

“Short Term 12″opens on August 23rd. Watch the trailer below and be sure to check out our interview with Larson about the movie right here.

Heard many promising things about this film. This trailer looks nice. I particularly like Brie Larson, ever since "Tara."
