All Things 'Austenland': New Website and Trailer for Keri Russell Rom-Com About a Jane Austen Die-Hard (VIDEO)

Jerusha Hess’ romantic comedy “Austenland” stars Keri Russell as a Jane Austen die-hard who signs up to be part of an immersive Regency-era theme park dedicated to the beloved author. It premiered at Sundance at the beginning of this year, and hits theaters on August 16. Check out the new website, which is as endearingly geeky as the film promises to be, and watch the trailer below.

Jane Seymour and funnywoman Jennifer Coolidge also star, along with Bret McKenzie (“Flight of the Conchords”) and JJ Feild (“Captain America”) as the two potential real-life Mr. Darcies ready to sweep Russell’s character off her feet.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

“AUSTENLAND” is a romantic comedy about 30-something, single
Jane Hayes (Keri Russell), a seemingly normal young woman with a secret: her
obsession with all things Jane Austen.
But when she decides to spend her life savings on a trip to an English
resort catering to Austen–crazed women, Jane’s fantasies of meeting the perfect
Regency–era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have
imagined.  Based on the novel by Shannon
Hale (who also co-wrote the script), the film was written and directed by
Jerusha Hess (writer, “Napoleon Dynamite”) and produced by Stephenie Meyer’s
Fickle Fish Films.

Meanwhile, Colin Firth’s essential big-screen turn as Mr. Darcy in the BBC’s 1995 production of “Pride and Prejudice” was recently immortalized — as a 12-foot statue in London’s Serpentine Lake.
