'Bold & Beautiful' Newbies Lawrence Saint-Victor, Karla Mosley, To Star In, Write, Produce Spin-off

CBS Soap, “The Bold and the Beautiful,” has tapped newcomers Lawrence Saint-Victor and Karla Mosley, to star in, write and produce a spin off Web-Series entitled, Room 8.

“This is the first time a network soap has taken a story arc and turned it into a separate series for the Internet,” Karla Mosley via TVGuide.com.

The eight episode comedy centers around, Scarlet [Mosley] and Lance [Saint-Victor].  Two strangers, who on move in day discover they’ve rented the same apartment.  With no money and no other options they decide to become…room-mates.

Lawrence and Karla where presented with this opportunity by B&B Executive Producer, Bradley Bell;  who took interest in Wed-Locked a web-series they created after there time on Guiding Light.

“When we were hired at B&B, Brad Bell asked us a lot of questions about Wed-Locked, how we created it, how we shot it  and that in a way became the inspiration for Room 8,” Lawrence Saint-Victor via TVGuide.com.

The show is very reminiscent of 80’s and 90’s sitcoms, complete with a whacky landlord played by Sean Whalen, best girlfriend, Deborah S. Craig and guy pal, Ross Kiddor.

Although the show itself is very lighthearted, there’s nothing funny about CBS taking this foray into new territory and entrusting two actors of color to lead the way.

“It’s a really exciting experiment and we’re eager to see how it’s received. The most wonderful thing about new media is that it’s new. The possibilities are endless!”  Karla Mosley via TVGuide.com

Room 8 debuts August 8th and can be found on Room8theSeries.com.

Louis

I think that it is a wonderful concept, with talented actors, who can write and produce! I am looking forward to it.

Akimbo

Deja vu. They already did a web series together before. It was basically "The Couple" before Black & Sexy came on the scene.

Ivy

Soaps in general are a sappy melodrama, so how can one tell between a good or bad one? With regard to talent, very few start off dyanmic; doesn't take time to develop a craft?

Ava

As a Dramatic writer myself, I am profoundly depressed having just watched that. I guess anyone is a writer these days. Le Sigh.

nun

The answer is no.

Sterling Cooper

Once again, the corporate fatcats disparage actual "writers of color".

Dankwa Brooks

I think it's cool for "CBS taking this foray into new territory and entrusting two actors of color to lead the way."

Jules

Hopefully, it will be better than that whacked out soap version. My son has been crushing on Karla since he was two and she was on Hi-5.

Darkan

I feel like I was watching a spoof. Can I have the time back I used to watch that horrible whitewashed, corny ass trailer?! Thank GOD for Roomieloverfriends!!! Can't wait for the next season.
