First Look: Diablo Cody's Directorial Debut 'Paradise,' Starring Julianne Hough

Diablo Cody’s directorial debut “Paradise” (previously titled “Lamb of God”) hits theaters October 18. The first eight images from the film, which stars Julianne Hough as a deeply religious woman who is also a burn victim, have been released. Check them out below, plus a still of Cody on set.

To deal with her crisis in faith following her injuries, Hough’s character heads to Las Vegas. Cody told USA Today that anyone who has “ever been through something incredibly difficult such as
this kind of injury, [knows] it’s hard to stay positive and not surrender to
cynicism completely. I wanted to make a non-cynical movie that would inspire positivity.”

Russell Brand, Octavia Spencer, Nick Offerman and Holly Hunter also star.

Cody won a Best Original Screenplay Oscar in 2008 for Jason Reitman’s “Juno.”

Ska-triumph

I never saw Julianne Hough as the lead after reading a draft… Never been impressed so she must've brought something extra for Cody to believe she's te one. If it works, Ms. Hough will have her actual breakout role. Looks good.
