First Official Image Of Andre Benjamin As Jimi Hendrix + More Images From 'Half Of A Yellow Sun'

Not a lot to see here, but…

First, after all the casual, fan-taken on-set pics of Andre Benjamin as Jimi Hendrix, here’s the first officially-released image from All Is By My Side, the Andre Benjamin/Jimi Hendrix project that will also make its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival later this year.

I was hoping for more, but that’s all TIFF has on it thus far. Although I’d bet that a trailer isn’t so far away.

The feature film is written and directed by John Ridley.

And secondly, here are more still images from Biyi Bandele’s film adaptation of Half Of A Yellow Sun, also World Premiering at TIFF, and also without much media on it in circulation.

A trailer should debut soon as well.

Seeing as they couldn't even get the rights to his music, this may be a disaster. Everything Rock knows about the guitar after 1970 came from his psychedelic twisting of what the instrument could do. I paid homage to Hendrix with a portrait called Purple Haze on the anniversary of his passing recently. You can see it at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/09/purple-haze-jimi-hendrix.html and tell me how the voodoo child’s music has influenced you!

Huh?

Sorry, just realized these are two different movies. Either way, Andre 3000 was good as Jimi, but the movie wasn't unfortunately. Hopefully they've fixed it since I saw it.

Huh?

I saw a preview of this movie, and unless they re-shot about 80 percent of it, it was totally unwatchable. And Thandie Newton was nowhere in it. Not sure what these images are from honestly…
