Project of the Day: Film Cleverly Teases Plot Hook in Crowdfunding Campaign Video

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“Come and Get Your Love”

Tweetable Logline:

Two young, broke Manhattanites must confront the reality of their dreams as they hike from Harlem to the Village one fateful summer night.

Elevator Pitch:

With only a few dollars to their name, best friends Stan and Beasley embark on a journey by foot across the length of Manhattan on a night filled with the promise of personal liberation, romance and enlightenment. Trekking through the city’s colorful maze of people and buildings, they make their way downtown where they meet two young women who will challenge their plans for the future, their notion of love, and even their friendship, making this a trip they won’t soon forget.

Production Team:

Raul Barcelona – Director/Producer/Editor
Josh Robbins – Writer/Producer
Heidi Eklund – Casting director/Producer
Jordan Stone – Director of Photography
Diane Becker – Executive Producer
Pat Gallio – Executive Producer

About the Production:

“What better way to illustrate the struggle of young people to find personal liberation in a world dominated by money, greed and power than through a long, nightly walk through the streets of Manhattan? When you ditch the subway and resort to the power of your own two feet, New York City comes alive in all its glory. The city is beautiful, ugly, quiet, loud, kind, merciless, rich and poor—some times all in the same block. Trapped by debt, brokenhearted, hopeless—it doesn’t matter: as you pound the pavement and navigate the sidewalks no dream seems out of reach.” — Raul Barcelona

Come and Get Your Love has my vote for this project of the month. Who doesn't remember their first explorations of Manhattan as a young person! And to be able to relive that passion and excitement on foot and all night, especially with the issues young people have to face today is a film I need and want to see right away. Please make this film happen.

lucille Krasne

An film using NYC adventures! I love this idea which is what much of NYC is to me: its richness in these moments! VERY clever use of "censored" in the promo–this part is a "must" to include in any final promotional plan! Am looking forward to being the first in line when it shows here!

The story sounds promising, and if the clip is indicative of the makers' skills this should be a great movie. No hook needed to reel me in.

I love this city. Such a perfect and beautiful NYC film idea!

Patricia Gallio

Getting Love — Isn't that what we are all striving for? Come and Get Your Love — a film I can't wait to see!

Raul gonzalez

This movie stimulates our senses and feelings. We can easily relate to these two friends doing the unthinkable to get their love. This director will make a truly enjoyable film.

An incredibly funny story of love, friendship and adventure in Manhattan. I'd love to see it come to life in the skilled hands of this director.

I'd like to see this project become a reality. As always, this directorwill shape the look and feel of this funny film into an exceptionally good movie.

Everything about this project is exciting. A cocktail of fun, drama and secrets, everything to make a really entertaining, enjoyable movie in the skilled hands of director'Raul Barcelona.

Great start with the promo video that got us all hooked. The story is hilarious and so absurd that it can only happen in New York. I'm sure this director will delight us again with his unique filmmaking style.

I think these two gentleman have proven they can make entertaining art, and not only make it but sell it! I would definitely check out this film and I hope it gets made.

Sounds interesting. Can't wait to see it.

This looks so much fun! I love the faces of the people in the park when they hear what the secret plot element is—can't wait to see the film!

I can't wait to see this movie. I think it has all elements to make it a success- a funny plot, adventurous characters, secrets to unveil and remarkable directing work;

Melina B

New York City is so beautiful at night, and as the backdrop for the story, it will be a striking character in this story. I think that we all remember magical nights, wandering the streets of our youth, and dreaming about what our lives might be while working out who we might become. The adventures of the young form the seeds of the future, which is pretty compelling. The basis is there and though I have not read the script, the previews and teases are interesting with a sense of humor. I see here some elements of stories that I have loved in the past. I look forward to this movie and will definitely see it. Good luck to the crew!

Yes! This looks amazing.

Lynne & Jeffrey

The trailer shows that these guys have real talent! Tell your friends!! This film will be fun!!!

Maria A. Lama

I think it's going to be a really funny movie and that this talented director will create yet another awesome film.

Everything this director touches is timely and provocative. Cannot wait to see this new project!

Timely topic. A fun way for me to keep up with all my younger friends! I, too, think this could be a classic.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie! Walking through Manhattan is one of my favorite things to do and I can't wait to see and experience the city again through this film's characters. And WHAT is the plot twist?!?

I'm hooked already. I hope this film comes to my town.

Can't wait to see it and know what it is the hook on the film. Everyone in the promo video seems to be very excited about it!!!

Looks awesome. Can't wait to see this!

I just watched the clip above- the project sounds like a classic and based on the twist they're keeping secret I can't wait to find out what happens!

Come and get your true indie cinema! Micro-budgeted to the core! Can't wait!

Sounds like a fun idea

This looks like a lot of fun. Sounds like a summer fun flick…you know the feel good film of the summer… and I am also so darned curious. I simply can't handle secrets.

Johnny Rodderick

This looks really interesting! Just watched the campaign video and I can't wait to find out what the secret hook is.
