With 'Southland' Canceled, Regina King Heads Back To 'Big Bang Theory'

With Southland now canceled, Regina King has signed up to return to CBS’s comedy hit, The Big Bang Theory, playing the director of employee relations at the university where star Jim Parsons’ character works.

King’s character was last seen fending off numerous romantic advances of the man at the office, who all seek job stability.

The Big Bang Theory returns for a 7th season with back-to-back episodes on September 26, at 8pm, on CBS.

King booked a co-starring on ABC‘s comedy pilot titled Divorce: A Love Story, which is based on an Israeli series; but it wasn’t picked up to series, unfortunately.

She’s making her feature directorial debut with an adaptation of ReShonda Tate Billingsby’s novel Let The Church Say Amen, for BET.

There was also a Shirley Chisolm biopic which King was once said to be attached to star in. No confirmation on that however. Viola Davis was also once-rumored to be interested.

The Introspective Man

Much respect and appreciation to both Regina King and CCH Pounder for creating such compelling, complex, and complete characterizations in their respective work on "Southland" and "The Shield".

They should each have a couple of Emmys for these two shows alone. Their portrayals have added value to the cop show as a genre, and elevated the expression of Black women in one-hour dramas.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Regina King's work. And on that note, I haven't previously been inclined to watch "The Big Bang Theory", but knowing that she'll be on is motivation enough.

Sad about 'Southland' but very pleased she's returning to 'The Big Bang Theory' and even more pleased that she'll be DIRECTING! Woo Hoo! Her Oscar will come one day. :-)
