Brit Drama/Thriller ‘Top Boy’ Season 2 Gets A Teaser Trailer And Premiere Date

Brit Drama/Thriller 'Top Boy' Season 2 Gets A Teaser Trailer And Premiere Date

In 2011, Channel 4 ordered a second season of the 4-part drama/thriller Top Boy, which stars Ashley Walters, thanks to strong audience response, and critical acclaim after the first season aired that year.

Season 2 will also comprise of 4 episodes, just like season 1.

Season 1 never did air in the USA, although it’s available on DVD on Netflix to rent. It was streaming at one point, but no longer is. From a few reactions some of our UK readers sent to me, it’s a solid piece of work, though its familiar *urban* themes of drugs, gangs and violence (but in a different setting) may turn off some Stateside, others said.

I’ve also heard/read comparisons made to The Wire.

Whether or not it’ll officially be made available on American TV isn’t yet known. Although I won’t be surprised if you find chunks of the series uploaded to video sharing sites like YouTube.

Those of you in the UK, if you missed Channel 4’s broadcast of Top Boy, in late October/early November, you should know that all 4 episodes are available for viewing online via the channel’s website HERE.

The gritty 4-part drama series is expected to continue with a new season that sees a lot more drama than its predecessor, and is expected to be an even bigger success than the first series, with hints that there may even be a third season in the pipeline!

But for now, Top Boy season 2 returns to your screens (if you’re in the UK) on Channel 4 on August 20th at 9pm

Ahead of that, here’s a teaser:

They need to come on with more episodes I love this show I'm getting really impatient

One of the best tv shows ever it needs to continue with longer seasons like seriously your editor if you don't think this is a good show

This one is worth the rent on Netflix–it is one of my favorite TV shows of all time, and I am not just saying that. Phenomenal acting, and it really is a superb drama that is also full of action. I loved it so much, I literally forced my girlfriend and several of my friends to watch it. They loved it too, so much so that we started using some of the dialect in our conversations/text messages, partly as a joke. Some may find the dialect a bit much as admittedly is it a bit difficult to understand sometimes, but I personally couldn't get enough of "innit" and "wagwan" haha.

At Preview screening of first episode it was confirmed that Channel 4 have are going to make a third series.

I saw the show on Hulu a while back. It's great, can't wait for season 2!
