Warner Bros. has replaced one titan with another on biopic “American Sniper,” centering on a Navy SEAL with more than 150 confirmed kills, set to star Bradley Cooper. Steven Spielberg dropped out, and now Clint Eastwood has stepped in to direct.
Jason Hall (“Paranoia”) penned the script, adapted from the book “American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in US Military History” by Chris Kyle, Scott McEwan and Jim DeFelice.
Eastwood, whose last big-screen helming venture was 2011’s “J. Edgar,” is currently in pre-production on musical “Jersey Boys.” He will begin “American Sniper” once filming for the former has completed.
