Watch: Valentin Narcisse & Daughter Try To Muscle In On Chalky’s Action ('Boardwalk Empire')

With a name like Valentin Narcisse, I can only imagine what’s in store for the new character that Jeffrey Wright plays in the upcoming fourth season of the lauded HBO series, Boardwalk Empire.

We can assume an inordinate conceit of his own superiority which likely manifests itself in contempt of others. Like Albert ChalkyWhite, for example, the character played by Michael K. Williams in the series, as the new spot below suggests.

Wright, in a series regular role, plays Valentin Narcisse, Doctor of Divinity, philanthropist, student of culture and the man who runs Harlem!
His daughter, Maitland, is played by Margot Bingham.
I’m currently playing catch-up on the series, since I’d never really gotten into it previously, and so missed just about all of the past seasons. I should be all caught up before the new season begins on September 8.

She's a singer named Daughter Maitland not his daughter.

The character Jeffrey Wright's playing is inspired by Casper Holstein, the man credited with refining the numbers. There's quite a bit about him on line.

Fasten your seat belts. He's gonna eat this up.

She is not his daughter. Her first name is Daughter and her last name is Maitland. Yes, daughter is an actual name.

I am binge watching Season 3 in preparation for Mr. Wright's debut! I'm officially halfway through the season as of yesterday! Can't wait for Season 4!

Boardwalk Empire is a "fictionalization" of the life and times of a real person Enoch "Nucky" Thompson, played by Steve Buscemi. The question is "Is there a real counterpart to Valentin Narcisse?" Most of the black gangsters at the time were only allowed, by the Italians, Jewish, and Irish mobs, to operate "policy" banks, The Numbers. According to Walter A. Bell, Black Gangs of Harlem: 1920 -1939, "Very little is known about organized black gangs that operated in Harlem, New York, during the Prohibition and Depression years. Almost all organized crime in Harlem during that time was run by Italian, Jewish, and Irish gangsters. A few loosely run black crime factions did exist and primarily concentrated on policy and lottery gambling, prostitution and drugs."
We do know however, "One of the powerful early numbers bosses was a woman, Madame Stephanie St. Clair." The part played by Cecily Tyson in the movie "Hoodlum," where Laurence (don't call me Larry) Fishburne played Charles "Bumpy" Johnson.

I can't wait!!!

Jeffrey Wright is a GOD.

NOBODY can ACT better than him.

Check his body of work. There is not an actor alive as talented.

Gyp Rosetti's rein of terror turned Atlantic city out. Bobby Cannavale was a genius in that role. I am looking forward to Jeffrey Wright's portrayal as Dr. Narcisse. I am sure there will be blood. His daughter Maitland looks extra devious. Although, Margot Bingham is not a household name , surely after this season she will be.
