Benedict Cumberbatch to Receive BAFTA LA's British Artist of the Year Award at 2013 Britannias

BAFTA Los Angeles has announced it will honor Benedict
Cumberbatch at the 2013 Britannia Awards, to be presented on November 9 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Cumberbatch will receive the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year. 

He joins previously announced honorees George Clooney, who will receive the
Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film; Kathryn Bigelow, who
will receive the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing;
and Ben Kingsley who will receive the Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award
for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment. Additional honorees to be announced in the coming weeks.

The British Artist of the Year award pays
tribute to a talented Brit artist whose outstanding performances in a year
have demonstrated the high quality of their craftsmanship. Cumberbatch’s numerous 2013 screen credits include “Star Trek Into Darkness,” and the upcoming “The Fifth Estate,” “August: Osage County,” “12 Years a Slave” and “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.” 

Previous  recipients include Daniel Craig,
Kate Winslet, Tilda Swinton, Helena Bonham Carter, Emily Blunt, Michael Sheen and Rachel Weisz.
