Director Jason Reitman Circling ‘Men, Women & Children’ With Adam Sandler, Rosemarie DeWitt And Jennifer Garner

Director Jason Reitman Circling 'Men, Women & Children' With Adam Sandler, Rosemarie DeWitt And Jennifer Garner

Jason Reitman is about to have a very busy Toronto. In addition to unveiling his new film, the already seriously polarizing crime drama “Labor Day,” starring Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet (you can read our take on it here), he is also staging one of his starry script readings, this time of Paul Thomas Anderson‘s “Boogie Nights.” And if that wasn’t enough, the director of “Juno” and “Young Adult” is also lining up his next project at the festival: an adaptation of Chad Kultgen‘s novel “Men, Women and Children,” with Adam Sandler, Jennifer Garner, Rosemarie DeWitt and Cameron Diaz attached.

According to the Deadline report, the book “focuses on a family with junior high school students and deals with the navigation of sexual awakenings in a digital age where the internet has made pornography, blogs and social networking just a few clicks away.” Topical!

Reitman has been busy announcing his cast for the “Boogie Nights” reading via his Twitter account, with Dakota Fanning as the Heather Graham character Rollergirl, Scott Thompson as The Colonel, Olivia Wilde as the Julianne Moore character Amber Waves, Jason Sudeikis as the Don Cheadle character Buck Swope, and Dane Cook as the John C. Reilly character Reed Rothchild. So far Dirk Diggler hasn’t been cast, but when he has, expect it to be a doozy.

If everything goes according to plan, the production of “Men, Women and Children” would reunite Reitman with his “Labor Day” financiers Indian Paintbrush, who would produce alongside Right Of Way and Mr. Mudd. They’re eyeing a November start date for the project; it’s unclear who has written the script. By the end of the festival, though, things should be somewhat finalized. And Reitman will take a very long nap.

Given that “Labor Day” received mixed reviews in Telluride, this new movie is eyeing a November start date according to the Wrap. Reitman’s “Labor Day” opens on Christmas Day.

Where is the movie with Rosemarie DeWitt and Ellen Page???

WHA?? 2

Sudeikis as Buck Swope?? The fuck is he thinking? The little argument with Nicole Ari Parker on "the new look" will just not work. I wouldn't be surprised if Jason Reitman doesn't know a single black person…..

Maybe he'll ask Daniel Radcliffe to play Luis Guzman's role!

I get that it's just a script reading but come on…….

Dane Cook as Reed Rothchild?? Wtf? "People tell me I look like Han Solo" will be so much less funnier out of his mouth.

FYI, Reitman and Erin Cressida Wilson wrote the screenplay.

The Colonel.

Edward D.

This logline reminds me just how MOR Jason Reitman's films are. Never got why the kids were bowled over by this Alexander Payne-wannabe.

It's always good to see Sandler actually stretch his acting muscles.
