One of a few black rom-coms on the horizon, here’s your a second look at the trailer for playwright/director David E. Talbert’s rom-com, Baggage Claim.

Fox Searchlight moved the film’s release date up by a month to September 272013, in what will be one of the most crowded fall seasons in black cinema history, given the number of black films scheduled to open between August and December this year. Some actually had to be moved to early next year to avoid the competition.

The ensemble cast includes Paula PattonTaye Diggs, Derek Luke, Trey SongzJill ScottJ ColeDjimon HounsouAdam BrodyBoris Kodjoe, Lauren LondonTia MowryLala Anthony and others.

Based on Talbert’s best-selling debut novel about a flight attendant with thirty days and thirty thousand miles to find a husband, the synopsis for Baggage Claim reads:

Pledging to keep herself from being the oldest and the only woman in her entire family never to wed, Montana embarks on a thirty-day, thirty-thousand-mile expedition to charm a potential suitor into becoming her fiancé. Whom will she choose? Damon Diesel, a P. Diddy wannabe; Reverend Curtis P. Merewether, pastor of Greater House of Deliverance, Tabernacle of Praise, Worship, and Miracles; pompous attorney-turned-councilman Langston Jefferson Battle III; or Quinton Jamison, a multimillionaire who’s twenty years her senior?

Patton leads the ensemble cast, starring as our husband-seeking flight attendant.

This will be Talbert’s first theatrically-released film since 2008’s First Sunday:

If I wasn't finishing lines I was guessing the next line… The writing is weak so far.

This movie looks like meh!

I want a good plot and storylines and actors who can actually act, in my rom-com!
This clip lost me. And it seems like most of the casting is stunt casting. I know Jumping the Broom did well with black audiences, but Paula Patton doesn't have a following and isn't lead actress material.

I didn't know rashida was in this movie!??!?

Paula Patton looks like a white girl with burnette hair in that clip. She's not just light skinned she is as close to White with a drop of color. One drop Black rule means you're Black right?

how pretty is lauren london
