Record High 2.6 Million Viewers Tune In For 'The Haves and the Have Nots' Fall Finale On OWN

So clearly, I don’t know anything anymore…

Boy was I wrong about the new Tyler Perry shows for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network!

Initially, I thought that OWN’s demo would reject them, and that they wouldn’t fare very well on the network, and would eventually be canceled. What instead happened here is that Tyler Perry’s audience followed him from TBS, where his 2 or 3 TV series once called home, to OWN, itself seemingly no longer the network that Oprah likely, originally intended, becoming, essentially, a competitor to other black TV networks like BET and TV One

Keep in mind that there’s at least one more Tyler Perry sitcom coming to OWN.

Two weeks ago OWN announced that it had ordered an additional 26 episodes of Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor, bringing the total season order to 52 episodes.

And, in addition, the network also ordered an another four episodes of the Tyler Perry drama The Haves and the Have Nots on top of the 16 additional episodes previously ordered in June. This brings the total order for The Haves and the Have Nots to 36 episodes for its first season.

And lastly, Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse will join OWN beginning Wednesday, September 18, with two back-to-back half hour episodes at 9 pm and 9:30 pm – all new episodes for season three.

So, clearly, the opposite of everything I thought would happen with this Oprah/Tyler partnership has indeed happened. So I’ll just shut up now.

Los Angeles – A record 2.6 million viewers tuned in for the fall finale of Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and The Have Nots” Tuesday, September 3 (9 p.m.) on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network making it the #1 telecast in series history across all key measures.

The series has grown for eight consecutive weeks in the key female demo, propelling the finale episode to score its highest rating of the season with a 2.21 women 25-54 rating, delivering +40% growth women 25-54 and +44% growth in total viewers versus the season average (1.58 W25-54, 1.8 million total viewers). Additionally, the episode built in every quarter hour, posting double-digit growth (+12%) over the course of the 9 p.m. hour in the key women 25-54 demo.

New episodes of “The Haves and The Have Nots” will return in January 2014.

FANTASY SELLS. And that name "HAVE and HAVE NOTS" is genius.

It is what we here in Amerikka REFUSE to talk about:

"I'm upper class and you are?"

mofo's here LIVE for class differences and when they are NOT in that group, they will VICARIOUSLY live through "media others"

You being a Materialistic African should have KNOWN this. Just look at your tribe.

Good for TP and Oprah. Its clear that people want to see their shows. They are doing a good job of meeting that demand.

I'm not a huge Tyler Perry fan and I tried not to like this show….but this show is very addictive. It is the best Soap Ive ever seen. As far as over the top predictable drama, it gets no better than this. Ive been reading a book called "Make The Pilot" and TP is hitting on every point in the book. I can't hate on it, it's very entertaining.

DRAMA….Tyler's Haves Nots is causing drama in my house. Listen, I can do some Tyler but NOT The Haves and The Have Nots… but my lady loves it. But, you know, I've tried to be the good man, the good companion who participates in activities with his spouse even if it's counter to my groove zone, but DRAMA has ensued.

Look, I just-can't-do-it-anymore… I can't stand the pain of that much… ah… over-the-top melodrama, but she loves it. And to be perfectly honest, she and the rest of Tyler's audience have the best hand. They're at a comfortable place in their movie & TV watching experience. I mean, they obviously do not overly concern themselves with the opinions of others, nor do they need what some would consider great acting and/or multidimensional characters to reach a place of satisfaction. That's a blessing because I can't count the times I've been "disturbed" by a plot or a script or an actor who didn't meet MY expectations. Now that's just crazy, she's enjoying her entertainment while I'm pissed at mine. Who's the biggest fool? **raising my hand**

Anyway, the drama occurs when I say enough of this, "I can't watch this anymore". Then we have to decide who will watch what they like to watch on the TV they like the most. Well, we have a large 70 inch television with all the bing, bangs and pows that I like watching my sports on. There's other televisions throughout the house but it's our favorite. Yep, it's "our" favorite, so when Tyler's drama is playing in our house (which I can not do anymore), after much discussion, guess who has to dry their tears in the smaller TV room?

Good show. TP's not the writer anyway because the script is actually good.

Tyler sucks! (no pun intended)

I put it this way, it's his audience, his viewership, his followers, his folks don't be trying to tell me what films I like so hey have at it. There is more than enough room and followers minus me for his show to do huge numbers and truly that's the bottom line. But it all adds to the mix showing a coming banner year for Black films, TV, Cable etc.

Love this show and happy it is doing great. Tyler and oprah are having a great year.

And still I say, no thank you.
