Second Longer Trailer For 'Black Nativity' Sings And Dances Its Way Onto Your Computer Screens

Here’s a second, longer trailer for Fox Searchlight’s Black Nativity, a musical drama directed by Kasi Lemmons, which is set for a November 27, 2013 release.

The story centers on a young black teen from Baltimore, who is sent to Harlem by his mother to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged grandparents. The boy then learns the real meaning of faith and family when his grandfather delivers a Christmas Eve sermon. The film includes a stylized, dream-sequence retelling of the classic Nativity story.

The film stars Jacob Latimore, Forest WhitakerAngela Bassett, and Jennifer Hudson, in a work that’s based on Langston Hughes‘ Broadway gospel musical.

Mary J. BligeTyrese GibsonLuke James, and Nas round out the cast.

Terence Blanchard is the film score’s composer, while Raphael Saadiq wrote music for it.

It opens November 27, 2013, in the middle of a somewhat crowded fall for black films.

WINNER WINNER WINNER… this is sure to be a hit among the black audience. As En Vogue said, people out there can understand they're giving us something we can feel, to let us know this love is real.

Come on now, although we've seen similar plots (think Spike Lee's film where the grandson is sent to stay with his preacher grandfather) this movie has popular Oscar caliber actors, a fulfilling storyline, excellent singers and music wrote by Raphael Saadiq. That's a no-brainer Winner-Winner-Black Folks Fried Chicken Dinner. And, I tell you what, the gods are smiling down on The Best Man Holiday. Black Nativity opens on the 27th and Madea's Christmas opens on Dec 13th while The Best Man beats them to the gate on Nov 15th.

EnVoque: Giving Him Something He Can Feel->

Judging from the trailer, it should be a very dramatic film. I love musical drama because it always let me feel the power of music. What will happen when Baltimore entered a different family Will it mean the reunion of the two family. We'll know all on Thanksgiving Day.
