Tribeca Film Acquiring Fanny Ardant Vehicle 'Bright Days Ahead' Out of Toronto

Tribeca Film today announced they they’re acquiring U.S. rights to Marion Vernoux’s “Bright Days Ahead” ahead of its North American premiere tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film, based on Fanny Chesnel’s novel “A Young Girl with Gray Hair” and starring the iconic Fanny Ardant, was released in France earlier this year.

Here’s the synopsis, per Tribeca:

In “Bright Days Ahead” Caroline (Fanny Ardant)
has retired, at last. A new life lies before her: time to take care of
her children, of her husband, and — above all — herself. She soon comes
to realize that this new freedom is synonymous with boredom and
idleness. Especially when she receives a membership to her
neighborhood’s senior club as a birthday present. Reluctant at first,
she decides to take the plunge. Oddly enough, she meets great people
there, starting with the young computer science teacher, who is far from
insensible to her charms. Caroline will gradually take control of her
life again and live a second youth taking a new lover, living new
experiences, breaking the rules, not doing what’s expected of you. Who
said that retirement was the beginning of the end and not a new
beginning?

“‘Bright Days Ahead’ is the kind of engaging adult drama we rarely get to see,”
said Geoffrey Gilmore, Chief Creative Officer Tribeca Enterprises. “Fanny Ardent, one of the icons of French Cinema, plays a woman of a
certain age rediscovering herself, her sexuality and her zest for life.
In a role that seems made for her, Ardent’s performance soars with
sensuousness in captivating romance that is both real and gratifying.”
