This fall the unthinkable will happen: an attempt to remake Brian De Palma‘s horror classic “Carrie” will hit screens nationwide. While the kneejerk reaction is to recoil in, well, horror, De Palma himself isn’t too concerned. “I know [director] Kimberly [Peirce], she’s an old friend of mine. Basically, she called me and we talked about the ideas of what she wanted to do and I had lunch with her,” the filmmaker recently told us. “But she’s an extremely competent, adept director and she’s got a great cast — I’m really looking forward to seeing it.” We have to admit, we’re curious.

The intrigue for the forthcoming movie is further anchored by the casting of Chloe Moretz as the scorned and bullied teen and Julianne Moore as her wacko Mom, a pretty potent pairing if there ever was one. In this featurette for the film Moretz promises a “psychologically mindblowing” movie that will “mess with your head” — which is either overblown hyperbole or a tantalizing indication of where Peirce has taken Stephen King‘s material.
Until we know more, you can watch this new featurette which features cast and director interviews along with new footage from the movie. “Carrie” makes prom a nightmare on October 18th.
