AFI FEST Adds Conversations and Panels, from Veteran Bening to Rising Stars Gerwig and DeHaan

AFI FEST 2013 has added conversations and panelists to its bulging program set to take place November 7 though 14 in Hollywood. 

The Times’ Amy Kaufman moderates a panel on Friday, November 8 (7:30 P.M., Chinese 6) with rising talent including Dane DeHaan (“Kill Your Darlings”), Greta Gerwig (“Frances Ha”), Michael B. Jordan (“Fruitvale Station”), Brie Larson (“Short Term 12”), and Miles Teller (“The Spectacular Now”).

“12 Years a Slave” director Steve McQueen will discuss his career from 2008’s “Hunger” and 2011’s “Shame” to his latest film “12 Years a Slave,” based on the true story of Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man abducted into slavery on Sunday, November 10 (7:00 P.M., TCL Chinese Theatre).

Annette Bening will talk about her career including her upcoming role in “The Face of Love” with the director Arie Posen, as well as her long filmography including “The Kids Are All Right,.” “Mother and Child,” “The Women,” “Being Julia,” “American Beauty,” “Bugsy,” where she met husband Warren Beatty, and her breakout in Stephen Frears’ “The Grifters” on Tuesday, November 12 (5:00 P.M., Egyptian Theatre).
