Application Period Starts Today For 2014-16 Disney│ABC DGA Directing Program

Disney’s ABC Talent Development & Diversity initiative has played an integral part in helping to launch a few successful careers in the entertainment industry.

Its programs are designed to attract, develop and staff talents from diverse backgrounds and life experiences in either creative or production positions.

Those accepted into the talent development programs are given the opportunity to hone their skills and perfect their craft under the supervision of network and studio executives, producers, writers and/or episodic directors.

The finalists selected for the 2012-14 Disney│ABC DGA Directing Program included a few names many of you will immediately recognize, given that we’ve been following their careers on this blog, like Karamuu Kush (the winner of the 3rd Shadow And Act Black Filmmaker Challenge), Rashaad Ernesto GreenJerry LaMotheTina Mabry, Moon Molson, and Nzingha Stewart

Launched in 2001, the two-year professional ABC DGA Directing Program focuses on potential episodic directing opportunities on Disney│ABC series. The Los Angeles-based program affords selected participants shadowing assignments with veteran episodic directors, mentoring by Disney|ABC Television Group network and/or studio executives and exposure to an array of industry professionals through the guest speaker series.

This program is open to all individuals who are at least twenty-one (21) years of age and is a USA resident. Directors with Directors Guild of America (DGA) credits and/or Guild membership are also eligible. Previous professional experience working in television production is strongly preferred, but not required.

Participants will be selected to join the directing talent pool no later than June 2014.
