“True Detective,” which stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as Louisiana detectives involved in 17-year hunt for a killer, will premiere on Sunday, January 12th at 9pm. The series is written by Nic Pizzolatto and directed by Cary Fukunaga, who are executive producers along with Steve Golin and Scott Stephens.
Lena Dunham’s “Girls” will follow with its third season premiere and another back-to-back episode at 10pm.
“Looking,” Michael Lannan’s series about three gay friends (Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett) in San Francisco, will be paired with “Girls” starting the week after. The series, which is executive produced by Sarah Condon (“Bored to Death”) and Andrew Haigh (“Weekend”), who directed the pilot, will premiere on Sunday, January 19th at 10:30pm. Special guest stars include Russell Tovey and Scott Bakula, who recently appeared in HBO’s original movie “Behind the Candelabra.”
