Magnolia Nabs 'The Double,' Starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska (TRAILER)

Magnolia Pictures has snapped up US rights to Richard Ayoade’s TIFF dark comedy “The Double,” starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska. Check out the atmospheric trailer, below.

Ayoade (“Submarine”) co-penned the script with Avi Korine (brother of “Spring Breakers” director Harmony Korine), loosely adapting it from Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s novella of the same title. Eisenberg does double duty playing a shy loner, harboring an infatuation with a young woman (Wasikowska), whose world is turned topsy-turvy with the arrival of a suave new co-worker, who happens to look exactly like him. Wallace Shawn, Chris O’Dowd, Sally Hawkins and Paddy Considine add support to the cast.

Magnolia is eyeing a 2014 release, following the wrap up of the film’s festival run.

"The Double" sounds like something I will love. I know Jesse is the main character(s) and it sounds like he's great in it – but Mia is in there, too … well, just keep showing pictures of her, okay, even if the story is about some movie she isn't even in. Love her acting, and seeing Jesse Eisenberg acting with her should be fascinating.
