New Images From 'American Hustle' & 'Out Of The Furnace' Bring Style & Grit

Any amount of Christian Bale we can get is fine by us, but this fall, we get the special treat of the actor appearing in two films: David O. Russell‘s “American Hustle” and Scott Cooper‘s “Out of the Furnace.” Both pictures offer up different takes on the twisted and corrupted American Dream, and with both movies on the way in a matter of months, some new pics have dropped.

First up, the entire lead ensemble of ‘Hustle’—including Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner—gets dolled up below in the outrageous and true saga of a financial con artist and his mistress/partner-in-crime who are forced to work with an out-of-control federal agent to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters, and politicians. And at least as far as it goes in the movies, it always seems like the slickest, smoother operators are always the best dressed too. Also: those haircuts.

Meanwhile, in ‘Furnace,’ you’re not likely to find any designer threads, hairspray or big, fat cigars. Co-starring Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Sam Shepard, Zoe Saldana, Forest Whitaker and more, this one is about two brothers, one of whom gets in way over his head with a criminal ring. It looks like bleak, tough stuff, bearing the kind of grime and dirt the characters in ‘Hustle’ likely wouldn’t touch with a hundred-foot pole.

“American Hustle” hits on Christmas Day, with “Out of the Furnace” heating things up on December 6th.

Double Bale dosage this December and I certainly don't mind either.
