Quote of the Day: Jennifer Lawrence to Hollywood's Diet Police "Go F*** Yourself"

In the upcoming November issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, Jennifer Lawrence speaks about the time she was labeled as “fat” by producers and told that if she didn’t lose weight, she’d be risking her career.

Lawrence, who won this year’s Oscar for best actress, went into detail about the experience to the magazine.

It was just the kind of shit that actresses have to go through. Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn’t lose a certain amount
of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. They thought that because of the
way my career had gone, it wouldn’t still hurt me.

After dealing with this horrific experience, she mentioned how she now deals with hearing the word “diet.”

If anybody even tries to whisper the word ‘diet’, I’m like, ‘You can go fuck yourself.’

Lawrence’s refusal to diet certainly hasn’t ruined her career. She has The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and American Hustle coming up, not mention tons of announced projects including her first go at producing. In Lawrence’s words, go fuck yourself haters, her body and her career are doing wonderfully as is.

Wow, Clint, what a load of horsesh*t. I believe there is this thing called ACTING where you can play a character who has been malnourished without actually malnourishing yourself. To accuse someone of not taking their role seriously b/c they didn't starve themselves is ridiculous, not to mention crazily judgmental.

Whenever folks like DeNiro, Norton, etc. lose crazy amounts of weight for roles, I always think it's a gimmick. It actually distracts me from the character they're playing.

But she HAS lost weight. Look at the photos, she is at least 20 lbs thinner than she was when she wad in True Grit.
She is dieting and is thin. Certainly much thinner than before.

Jennifer looks fantastic. She looks healthy, and she looks fit… the only problem is that the character she is playing in The Hunger Games is most emphatically NOT supposed to look healthy and fit. The character is supposed to have lived a life of near starvation. The "Hunger" in the very title is indicative of how integral that privation is to the story.

In relation to her overall body of work, she looks great, and she has no need to change. In relation to the part of Katniss Everdeen, she shows that she has no respect for that particular work. It would be like Dinero telling the producers of Raging Bull to f*** off if they asked him to gain and lose weight. Then again, The Hunger Games is no Raging Bull, and she may be excused for not taking it seriously.
