Awesome video! Reminds me of a mantra Suzanne DePasse says:

Tambay, you weren't lying about potent quotables. Damn! She came with it. Personally for me it was 'if you spend more time thinking about what you don't have and what somebody can do for you, as opposed to what you have and what you can do for yourself, you're acting in a desperate manner. Knock it off.'

Critical Acclaim

This is pretty great. "The only thing that moves you forward is your work." Bingo.

Thank you again Ava Duvernay for being the amazing, wise, open, person you are. I am crying right now because last week, I had that desperation overcoat on… but never again. I'll continue to be creative and put the work in. I too wanna be that senior citizen on set and collaborating and experiencing the passion of storytelling.

God Bless you.

Sage advice. She got directly to the point. Very, very well said.

Terrific. She dropped KNOWLEDGE here. I've been watching this lady for a while and truthfully, I Will Follow being made only three years ago blew my mind because the fact that she's done all that she's done in only three years to 2013 (WTF?!) makes me be like – I need to move ass!!!! She's a hard worker and she just told me how she's does it. Makes a whole lot of good sense to me. Terrific speech.

Honest and inspiring – everything that I needed.

Jerrell L.

A coat of desperation. That really hit home. Thanks for posting this.
