The Weinstein Company will release their Hurricane Sandy benefit
concert documentary, “12-12-12,” in New York and Los Angeles on
November 1. The documentary is a behind-the-scenes look at the show, which took
place at New York’s Madison Square Garden on December 12, 2012.
The concert, which helped to raise over $50 million in one
night for the Robin Hood Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund, featured performances by big
names like Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovie, Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Eddie Vedder, Chris
Martin, Michael Stipe, Adam Sandler, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, The Who,
Kanye West and included involvement from Billy Crystal, Susan Sarandon, Kristen
Stewart, Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Steve Buscemi, Chris Rock,
Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Foxx, Quentin Tarantino, and Christoph Waltz.
The doc recently held its world premiere at TIFF, and
was nominated for a Primetime Emmy.
All box office
profits from the documentary’s theatrical run will go to the Robin Hood Sandy
Relief Fund which supports organizations helping victims in New York, New
Jersey and Connecticut.
