BRITDOC Reboots Troubled Production on M.I.A. Documentary, Featuring Spike Jonze and Kanye West

In July, we reported that production on the feature M.I.A. documentary, directed by her frequent collaborator Steve Loveridge, had stalled due to legal entanglements between the two parties. Well, as of today, the project is up and running again, now that British non-profit BRITDOC has come aboard the untitled film as a co-producer and financier.

Using 100 hours of exclusive, never before seen footage, the pic will examine Maya — the woman, the artist, the provocateur, the politico — behind the M.I.A. moniker.

Weighing in on her persona are a number of noted names including Spike Jonze, Jimmy Iovine, Kanye West, and her ex-boyfriend, Diplo. Check out the original trailer below.
