Season one of “Behind the Mask,” from Emmy-winning filmmaker Josh Greenbaum (whose feature doc “The Short Game” was recently acquired by Netflix), followed Lebanon High School’s Rooty the Cedar Tree, UNLV’s Hey Reb, Tux, the Penguin of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton hockey team, and NBA mascot Bango of the Milwaukee Bucks. The second season will bring viewers inside the lives of three new characters in all of their fuzzy, costumed glory.
“We are very much looking forward to working with Josh and Occupant on another season of Behind the Mask,” said Hulu Originals head of development Charlotte Koh. “Josh’s perceptive and empathetic storytelling is insightful and entertaining. He turns the mascots into everyday superheroes who we can all relate to and root for.”
“Behind the Mask” was produced by Felipe Marino and Joe Neurater of Occupant Entertainment along with Kate Sharp. “We are thrilled about the extraordinary reception of the show and very grateful for Hulu’s commitment and faith in Josh’s ability to up the ante in season two,” added Marino.
The first season of the unscripted show wraps on December 17, with the second season scheduled to premiere in 2014. Check out the first episode here:
