“We look with great excitement to hosting the third Sundance London in April. In keeping with the event’s purpose of celebrating independent artists, the Short Film Competition and workshop allow us to tap into the vibrant artistic community in the UK and connect that work with audiences at the festival,” John Cooper, Director of the Sundance Film Festival, said.
The festival will feature a variety of films and events, among them an expanded filmmaker development program and most notably the Sundance London Short Film Competition. The competition as in previous years will continue to attract support for UK-based filmmakers by encouraging them to submit original three to five minute shorts conceptualized in the spirit of the following competition theme: ‘Making a go of it’: stories about moving forward in life, love or loss and the pursuit of inspiration.’
Submissions may include any desired format or genre and the winning filmmaker will be rewarded by having his or her film screened at Sundance London in addition to receiving a three-night stay at The Langham, London. Finally, Sundance Film Festival short film programmer Mike Plante will lead a Shorts Workshop for aspiring filmmakers on April 26 at Cineworld within the O2 arena.
