This is based on an adaptation of Black Nativity that played The Duke Theatre in NYC in 2006 to great critical success. That production was set in present day New York City, adapted and directed by Alfred Preisser & Tracy Jack, with Musical Direction by Kelvyn Bell. Ms Jack also choreographed and played Mary. The play starred Andre' De Shields and the Shangalia Youth Choir of Kenya. It was developed over a period of ten years by people who worked together at The Harlem School of the Arts, where the production was an annual event. After Nativity w as optioned by Plum Pictures the creative team was consulted re: creative content and the inspiration for the modern day adaptation, but subsequently they were not included in the film production and their work goes uncredited.

And now that i know Tyrese is in this I will be so skipping it!

That's pretty sweet. I love how they modernized a classic biblical story so today's generation can identify with it. Plus Luke looks cute!
