"I did what I believe I had to do… what any writer would do, which is, essentialize, cut to the heart of the story. William Nicholson – writer

"The way we made the film I think is going to shock a lot of people." Director, Justin Chadwick

Spoken by a couple of well intentioned white guys. However, since I've seen the film, I was not shocked nor does the writer get a pass for his failures. Granted, it's a difficult challenge condensing a life story into a 2 1/2 film, but Steve McQueen did it on a grand scale. His film did not resemble a Lifetime Channel special event. "Long Walk Home", on the other hand, was a predictable bore fest.

Again, I was not shocked nor surprised, this has been a continuing story. That is, the story of white men telling stories which features blacks of world history.
