A suitcase full of money, a crooked cop, a femme fatale and plans gone wrong… It sounds like something we’ve seen before, but with the usually solid Jason Clarke (“Lawless,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Great Gatsby,” “White House Down“) in the lead, “Swerve” is one we’ll definitely be checking out.
Co-starring Emma Booth and David Lyons, the story is set against the Australian outback where a man stumbles across a car accident, but more importantly, a suitcase stacked with cash. He does the right thing and turns it in but soon he’s ensnared in the lives of a twisted police officer, his seductive wife, and as you might guess, he’ll probably have to fight for his life. Again, this seems pretty standard but we are intrigued by The Hollywood Reporter review which drops Alfred Hitchcock, the Coen Brothers, James M. Cain and Raymond Chandler as reference points.
“Swerve” opens in limited release on December 6th. Check out the trailer below. [First Showing]
