Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment Sells Trevor Noah Half-Hour Comedy To FOX

Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment has teamed up with Legendary Television to sell a half-hour comedy to Fox, which will star South African comedian Trevor Noah, inspired by his own life.

Born to a white Swiss father and black South African mother, Noah’s mixed-race heritage, including his experiences growing up in a Soweto township, and his observations about race and ethnicity, are frequent themes addressed in his comedy.

He’s said to be the first South African stand-up comedian to appear on The Tonight Show and The David Letterman Show, and was the subject of the 2012 documentary You Laugh But It’s True. He currently can be found on Showtime, on his comedy special titled African American.

Sameer Gardeezi will write the script for the yet-to-be-titled Fox comedy.

Yeah but, Trevor will just be acting out someone's projection of him and his experience, which sucks because it's no longer Trevor's comedy but rather someone else's idea of comedy or mockery of Trevor's experiences. When Trevor has full control of his performance his comedy is original and outstanding. When he's acting he loses his virtue big time. Maybe he's looking for fame but nothing in this world is worth selling your soul.

I like his comedy, it't not your normal, almost ignorant brand of comedy, its something different and he's funny!
