“Folk Hero & Funny Guy“
Alex Karpovsky stars as a down on his luck comedian who gets conned into touring with his more successful singer/songwriter best friend.
Paul (Alex Karpovsky) and Jason are childhood friends who have drifted apart. Jason is a good-looking and free spirited singer-songwriter whose career is taking off while Paul is a struggling stand-up comedian whose once promising trajectory is now in decline. Jason shows up in town and a night of drinking leads to Jason offering Paul the spot as the opening act for his upcoming solo tour. What Paul doesn’t know is that Jason has booked the tour to win back an old flame. Paul’s woes are the ideal opportunity for Jason to get his number one wingman back on board.

About the Production:
“The character of the Folk Hero was based on a good friend of mine, Adam Ezra, who was starting in music at the same time I was starting in comedy. Back in the early days in Chicago, I realized the inequities between comedy and music when after our open mic nights, I would wait and hope for one of the many cute girls surrounding him to maybe compliment my set… That never happened. But it did serve as a great jumping off point to tell a heartfelt but funny story about true friendship (and why it sucks).” -Jeff Grace
