2014 Golden Globe Predictions: Best Comedy/Musical

2014 Golden Globe Predictions: Best Comedy/Musical

Indiewire will provide regular updates of our predictions for the
Golden Globe Awards through January 12th, when the winners are announced.

Here’s our take on the best motion picture comedy/musical category,
which is a much more crowded field that usual this year. Many of Oscar’s heavy hitters chose to submit on this side of things, resuling in “American Hustle,” “Her,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “Nebraska,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” being the ultimate nominees.  Arguably a few of them probably belong in drama, but that’s a moot point by now. What’s not is who will win, which seems like “Hustle” or “Nebraska”…

Our take below. Check out all predictions in all the categories here.

The nominees:
“American Hustle”
“Inside Llewyn Davis”
“The Wolf Of Wall Street”

Will win: “American Hustle”
Could win: “Nebraska”
Should win: “Inside Llewyn Davis” (though “Her” and “Wall Street” are also great)
Shoulda been here: “This Is The End” (seriously, that’s why we have this category)

Wolf was not that good. It was way too long. I'm okay with long movies, as long as they don't feel like they're long. With Wolf, I kept thinking that it was finally over, but there was still more. Furthermore, I did not find any of the characters to be likable and had nobody to root for.

they need to rethink their category thing. NONE of the movies in the list are really comedy. There are comedic elements but they're mostly drama and just because there are some song doesn't mean, it's a musical.

Why would August Osage county win over much stronger contenders? American Hustle is now in this race. I don't even think august Osage county has that good a chance at being nominated.
