Well, “Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt?” is still an actual thing that is happening and the producers are continuing a trend that they started with the second film: bringing in an entirely new cast. For the final installment of the trilogy, John Galt will be played by Kristoffer Polaha (“Devil’s Knot”), Laura Regan (“Unbreakable,” “Mad Men”) will play Dagny Taggart, and the rest of the main cast includes Rob Morrow, Eric Allan Kramer, and Joaquim de Almeida. Production on the film has just begun and producers are hoping to release the film this upcoming September, right in time for the midterm elections.
Based on the popular Ayn Rand novel, in the third movie, the most successful and productive members of America all begin to disappear in the form of a strike that’s been orchestrated by a mysterious figure named John Galt. And with the movie largely centered around this John Galt character, you might think the producers would have to do a very exhaustive search to find the right actor for this role. That did not turn out to be the case.
“As soon as Kris walked in the room and said, ‘Hello,’ we knew we found him. Kris is John Galt,” said Harmon Kaslow, a co-producer on the film.
Last we heard from this movie, the producers began a Kickstarter campaign in September even though the film had already been funded at that point. The project’s goal of $250,000 was easily surpassed with the final tally coming in at $446,907 from over 3,500 backers. Will the successful Kickstarter campaign help the third film in the box office? Considering the first two movies only made a combined $8 million, the producers sure hope so. [THR]
