FIRST LOOK: Nickelodeon’s “Breadwinners”

FIRST LOOK: Nickelodeon's "Breadwinners"

Created by Steve Borst (Teen Titans Go!, MAD) and Gary “Doodles” Di Raffaele (MAD, Metalocyalpse), Breadwinners follows two booty-shaking ducks as they operate a bread delivery service out of their awesome, jet-fueled rocket van.

The new series makes its debut this winter on Nickelodeon. This TV spot will premiere on the channel over the weekend – we’ve got it first. Take a look:

This should be better than that DC show Borst worked on. It just didn't feel right.

In examining the content of this promo, I suspect that the booty-shaking and sliced bread themes of Breadwinners borrows heavily from the "Powdered Toast Man" segments of John Kricfalusi's The Ren & Stimpy Show.

this show is going to be frickin' awesome!

I hope this series is a hit, and I wish all the best for the people involved with it …

… there's something missing. the pilot had a sense on infectious fun that wasn't in this promo. the dance party grooves have been replaced with rap. the backgrounds have more of a cgi look to them. the animation has more of a flash feel. the whole thing has a "executive meddling" vibe to it.

hopefully the series will win me back.
