Fred “The Hammer” Williamson Launches $1.2 Million Kickstarter Campaign For ‘Original Gangstas 2’

Fred “The Hammer” Williamson Launches $1.2 Million Kickstarter Campaign For 'Original Gangstas 2'

You know, if even the great Fred “The Hammer” Williamson is getting into this whole Kickstarter
thing, then maybe I’m going to have to admit that there’s something to

But that right folks. Wlliamson has just started a
Kickstater campaign to raise $1.2
in 60 days to make a sequel to his 1996 film Original Gangtas..

Coming back for the film are the original stars of the first one: Williamson, Jim Brown, Pam Grier, and Richard Roundtree, and also Bernie Casey, Gloria Hendry, Antonio Fargas
and  Robert

My God,  it’s like I’ve gone
back in time to a Saturday matinee in 1973.

And if Spike could raise the money for his next project
using Kickstarter, why not the Hammer? It’s only fair.

Here’s the link to check out Williamson’s Kickstarter
page HERE

Watch his video pitch below, followed by the widget for the campaign, and then the trailer for the original film:

I actually thought that a couple of these guys were dead.

If the movie will made so cheaply, why don't the stars split the cost among themselves? 200k a piece shouldn't break the bank. Sorry, but I can't support folks with their own money who could fund the project themselves.

Hi you have a nice site over here! Thanks for sharing this interesting stuff for us! If you keep up this good work I’ll visit your weblog again. Thanks!

Congrats to Fred Williamson for going the crowdfunding route, something that both Sybil Danning and Tom "Billy Jack" Laughlin should have did for their planned film projects(although Sybil did use Kickstarter to attempt to fund an L.A. BOUNTY video game that unfortunately floundered[since the fans would rather instead see a new L.A. BOUNTY film]).

Must respect to FW. But this one needs to stay on the shelf. I remember the first one. It doesn't need a sequel.

rest in peace to Ron O'neal from the original cast

"if you don't get me my money TO-NIGHT"-Superfly

"listen to him…talkin bout I better pay or else..who do you think you are Ron O'neal or somebody?"- Menace 2 Society

great idea….for The Hammer

at first I thought it was a bit late for him to assemble the old stars but the action films "Red" and it's sequel did decent numbers and has elderly cast kicking ass and shooting people

I'm in for a few dollars and gonna spread the word about this…..I fux with Black Caesar

Oh hell no. Don't we have enough film glorifying violence in our community? Why would I give money to this when I could give my money to countless other indie content creators who are trying to bring different, fresh, stories of nuance to the black community? Pass.
