|An obsessive carpenter is forced to reevaluate his life when his latest creation, a beautifully crafted table, begins to speak.|
“Pine Tree” is about Ryan, a carpenter who makes furniture from recycled wood and sells them at a shop he owns. However, for every piece Ryan sells, he hoards 5 or 6 more pieces.
When his girlfriend Florence, a face painter at a circus, discovers his hoarding problems, Ryan fears he may lose her. Therefore, he creates a custom table just for her and promises never to keep another piece of furniture for himself.
However, Ryan quickly discovers that the table he created can speak, forcing him to face the reality of getting rid of his greatest work.
Director: Adam Evans (Meta: The Culture of IPL)
Producer: Jaime Sweet (One of the Guys, Recipes From Yuiza’s Kitchen), Benjamin Davis (Driving Not Knowing), Jacob Berman, Craig Hacker
Cinematographer: David Dominguez (Sweepstakes)
About the Production:
|“‘Pine Tree’ is ultimately about artistic insecurity and this deep fear of criticism even after you have worked so hard to create this really great piece of art. It’s about realizing that the work has to have its own life and that you have to let it go, for better or worse. After struggling to even make it into film school (rejected 3 times before i got in to my dream school of Temple University), I discovered that the biggest barrier was my own insecurity about my work. It is important that I explore this theme for myself.”|
