‘America’s Only Gay Television Network’ Here TV Announces Its First Original Sitcom, ‘From Here on OUT’

'America's Only Gay Television Network' Here TV Announces Its First Original Sitcom, 'From Here on OUT'

Here TV describes itself as “America’s only gay television network,” a label it’s earned since Logo TV shifted away from a devoted LGBT focus in 2012. Today the channel announced its first-ever original sitcom, “From Here on OUT,” created, written by and starring Terry Ray (“Gaydar”). The first two episodes of the six-episode season will premiere on Friday, March 28, exclusively on Here TV.

“This series brings a full-frontal sensibility to a retro sitcom,” explained producer-actor David Millbern. “Injecting broad comedy into the Here TV space has created a truly fun experiment.” The series takes a meta approach, with Ray playing Jimmy Randall, an aging gay writer trying to get his dream project, “Guy Dubai: International Gay Spy,” made. He finally sells the series to the 18-year-old president of Here TV, but is told he must hire an openly gay leading man. He casts Sam Decker, who’s talented, good-looking and secretly straight, leading Jimmy and Sam to attempt to pass as a couple for the benefit of the network. The series is directed by Sam Irvin and also stars Juliet Mills, Suzanne Whang, T.J. Hoban, Adrian Gonzalez, Austin Robert Miller and Michael Lanham — check out a trailer below.

Terrible. Skipping it, thanks!

Pathetic and unwatchable dreck. Is this really the best our community can come up with? Seriously, the team behind this should feel humiliated. Jesus. Please don't put this on the air.

Jeez!!! This is god awful. Its not even good enough to be cliche. A halfway decent webseries looks better than this. This looks among the worst webseries like 3-5yrs ago, yet alone something on tv. And why didn't they use actors instead of West Hollywood's finest? They are a network, a bad one, but still a network. They should be utterly embarrased to put this out with heir bame on it. A film school student would make better. Shows how f'd up things at the network are for this to make tje grade and they actually brag about it and promote it I'm embarrassed for them.

This looks horrible !!! cliche!!

This looks truly awful, yet still better than Looking

alison is stupid

her opinion means nothing

Here TV has never been known for its quality original content (I didn't even know the channel still existed), but this looks so uninviting and badly made it's hard to imagine anyone with half a brain would watch it. So it should do well with Here's core audience.

I'd love to hear BENT weigh in on this – there has to be a plethora of LGBT fare worth developing instead….
