Bennett Miller’s “Capote,” for which Hoffman won Best Actor, will screen on February 11. The film also played as part of the Berlinale Competition lineup in 2006.
Schell, also a director, will have his film “Meine Schwester Maria,” a portrait of his sister, presented on February 9. Schell won Best Actor from the Academy in 1962 for his role as Hans Rolf in Stanley Kramer’s classic “Judgment at Nurembourg.”
Hoffman, 46, was found dead from a heroin overdose in his New York apartment on the morning of February 2. The internet immediately responded with outpourings of grief, but also with some insightful pieces on drug addiction.
Schell, 83, was taken ill with pneumonia and died on February 1.
