Reports: Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead in Manhattan Apartment

The report says that Hoffman — who was just 46 years old — was found in the West Village apartment this afternoon and that the New York Police Department is investigating it. The New York Times is now reporting it was an apparent drug overdose.

Hoffman won an Academy Award for his work in “Capote” and found subsequent Oscar nominations for “Charlie Wilson’s War,” “Doubt” and “The Master.” The actor was extremely busy as of late: He was just at the Sundance Film Festival two weeks ago with both “A Most Wanted Man” and “God’s Pocket,” while Showtime recently gave an order a half-hour comedy starting the actor, “Happyish” and Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal just joined his directorial effort “Ezekiel Moss.”

Extremely sad. One the greatest talented actor, a humble man. Great loss, hence we lose the opportunities of your works forever. R.I.P. Mr. Hoffman.
