Spike Lee Seeks R&B & Rap Music By Indie/Unsigned Artists To Include In 'Da Sweet Blood Of Jesus'

Spike Lee wants to include your music in his new Kickstarter Joint – DA SWEET BLOOD OF JESUS. We are now accepting submissions for ONLY R&B and Rap songs by Independent/Unsigned Artists. Go to: http://bit.ly/bloodmusic on how to submit music before the cut off February 28th.

The above is a Twitter/Instagram post published moments ago by 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks – Spike Lee’s production company.

Given that it’s a low-budget film (relative to Hollywood standards) it makes sense that music by indie or unsigned artists are being sought. They likely won’t be as expensive to license.

But it’s also a wonderful opportunity for indie and unsigned artists to have their music showcased in a film by a filmmaker of prominence, in a film that may be seen widely, depending on how it’s initially received when released.

So submit your music now, before February 28. I’m sure 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks will be flooded with entries.

No word yet on how exactly the music selected will be used in the film, but I should note that Raphael Saadiq is composing the film’s soundtrack.

If you missed it, read my recent piece (HERE) making a case for why this Spike joint just might be a remake, or a re-imagining of Bill Gunn’s 1973 film Ganja & Hess
